About the Client

Marine Society and Sea Cadets (MSSC) is the parent charity of both Sea Cadets and Marine Society. Through Sea Cadets, the charity helps develop resilient young people equipped to navigate the challenges of today’s world. Through Marine Society, it supports seafarers and maritime professionals in accessing and making the most of career and training opportunities.

The Challenge

Denisa, Head of Communications for MSSC, carries responsibility for supporting national events, marketing materials and hundreds of units and volunteers with printed materials, but there was no straightforward process for units or staff to move a template from their marketing hub directly into production.

This created several challenges:

  • Materials were difficult to produce quickly and consistently
  • Units needed frequent support with flyers, event collateral, and displays
  • Print terminology felt unfamiliar and overwhelming
  • The organisation relied heavily on last minute turnaround
  • Procurement needed a single trusted partner to streamline the process

The Strategy

Empine stood out immediately to the team. The pricing was clear. The quality of the samples was strong.

Empine focused on delivering what the charity needed most. The team provided practical guidance, explained print processes in an accessible way, and helped the Communications Team and all their units feel supported.

Empine began supplying materials that were essential to the charity’s communication efforts:

  • Flyers for membership, volunteering, and legacy giving
  • Parent information packs
  • Pull up banners for recruitment and events
  • Printed flags and large format displays
  • Gazebos used across nationwide events
  • Large displays for nationally recognised locations

Whenever Denisa needed help, she could reach someone straight away by phone, email, or message. That support quickly became invaluable.

The Results

What surprised Denisa most was how quickly highquality print could be produced. She had expected long lead times. Instead, even difficult or urgent deadlines became manageable because Empine delivered consistently.

This shift made an immediate impact:

  • Events were easier to run because printed materials arrived on time
  • Units had reliable, consistent branding
  • Volunteers and parents received clearer and more polished resources
  • The Communications Team gained confidence in using print as a strategic tool
  • Denisa had a trusted partner she could rely on in high pressure moments

The oncedaunting world of print became something she could navigate comfortably, supported by a team who always made time for her.
